Connor called AGPR his home in 2014 at the age of a year old. He was adopted in 2015 and was sadly returned before Christmas in 2022. It was like he never left…he went to the same kennel in the Office that he occupied eight years earlier. And remembered every single volunteer who spent time with his during his earlier stay.
Connor welcomed everyone with his kisses…his way of saying “thank you”. AGPR was so grateful to an awesome supporter who insisted on long term fostering Connor to give his the best golden years.
Here’s her memorial:
When we adopted Connor it was Easter weekend in 2023; he took his first steps into our house, did a little sniffing, then lay down in the kitchen as if to say ‘ok, is the ham ready’? From that day forward, he was a constant companion in the kitchen during meal time. Connor could catch food in the air like a champ; he gave the best kisses and hugs whenever we came in.
For two years we took him on adventures to the beach and the river where he loved to lay on the dock and sniff the air. As soon as anyone went down to the dock Connor would be standing at the gate as if to say “can I go?”. When he wasn’t at the river he would be lounging by our pool and of course chasing squirrels that came by.
Eventually Connor’s body just gave out and he had a peaceful goodbye, still giving his mom kisses at the end. Connor had a nice long life and left such a hole in our hearts though we know he is looking down on us and will be waiting for us at the rainbow bridge one day.
