Volunteer With Us: Join an AGPR Committee
0At Appalachian Great Pyrenees Rescue (AGPR), we believe that teamwork makes rescue work. Whether you love planning events, writing compelling stories, or just want to help big fluffy dogs find loving homes, there’s a place for you to volunteer with us!
We’re currently looking for volunteers to join our two active committees:
The Events & Fundraising Committee and The Marketing & Outreach Committee.
Events & Fundraising Committee
This passionate team organizes community events, fundraisers, and outreach initiatives that raise both awareness and critical funds for AGPR. From Pyr-friendly meetups to online donation drives, this committee is all about creativity, collaboration, and compassion. Note: the events will take place in the Richmond, VA area!
When you volunteer with us, you can expect to do things like:
- Coordinating in-person and virtual fundraising events
- Engaging local businesses and sponsors (silent auction items, raffle prizes, etc.)
- Creating promotional materials for events
- Helping at events (setup, check-in, outreach, cleanup)
- Managing donation campaigns
What we’re looking for in a volunteer:
- A positive, can-do attitude and love for Pyrs
- Commitment to at least one monthly meeting
- Willingness to attend or help with at least two events per year—Must be local to the Richmond, VA area!
- Promotion of events through your network or social media
- Creative thinking and collaboration with the AGPR team
- A sense of humor—sometimes it’s muddy paws, glitter, and last-minute grocery runs!
Marketing & Outreach Committee
This digital-first committee is focused on helping AGPR grow our audience, connect with new supporters, and increase donations. If you’re comfortable working online, this is a great remote opportunity to help behind the scenes.
When you volunteer with us, you can expect to do things like:
- Creating social media posts and campaigns
- Writing blog posts, newsletters, or press releases
- Brainstorming ideas to grow our newsletter list
- Helping with donor communications and fundraising drives
- Supporting online adoption promotions
What we’re looking for in a volunteer:
- Reliable volunteers who can attend quarterly Zoom meetings
- Willingness to complete tasks between meetings (social posts, writing, brainstorming, etc.)
- Strong communication skills and a love for storytelling
- Experience in digital marketing, PR, writing, or nonprofit outreach is a plus—but not required!
- A passion for helping dogs and spreading the word about AGPR
